FAQ

Will we wear suits in the class?

The “Mocap suits” (Velcro suits covered in markers) are strictly used for performance capture shoots and are both time consuming and expensive to set up and use. This expense is always passed onto you, the student, and usually well before the student is ready. We instead focus on putting your time/money investment into focused training that will best forge the skills you need to ace the audition and nail your performance. The exception to this are the Final Performance Masterclasses made specifically to show your hard won skill.

Will I get footage from this class?

We at META try to create a safe environment where you are free to be your wild, incredible, crazy, but most importantly, vulnerable self. You must be free to fail at first, free to try new things, that often look or feel ridiculous. Occasionally we do record portions of classes for promotional purposes. Everything that is put out into the public eye has been reviewed to ensure you are all represented well. If you would like footage from a class for your own use, you are welcome to request it, though it is not guaranteed. Often there is a lot to go through and it just isn’t possible to do that for everyone.

Can I take photos/videos to post on social media/use for my reel/just to review for my own benefit?

Photos and videos for your own review are encouraged so long as it isn’t disruptive to the class. We ask that anything posted, particularly from the Level 1 classes be reviewed by an instructor first. Remember that anything you post is seen by any number of people in a position to refer or cast you. We want to ensure that you are representing yourself with your best work.

Class locations are announced on an individual class basis. Most Southern California classes happen within the greater Los Angeles area.

Currently most of our classes are held outside for the safety of our student’s health. COVID is still spreading quickly. We want our students to be working and feel that moving back to indoor facilities too early risks their health, and subsequently their ability to be on set.

What cities do you teach in?

META classes are taught mostly in Los Angeles, with special event classes in San Diego, San Francisco, Austin, Seattle, Denver, and Atlanta, GA.

Will I get work from taking your classes?

“Be so good they can’t ignore you.”  ~Steve Martin~

As with all acting classes, the intent of the training is to best prepare you for the work itself. That said, no class or teacher can guarantee you work. Nor should they. Train hard and your chances of working are greatly increased. Train the hardest, be the best. Make it so they can’t ignore you.

I already have MoCap/PCap experience, do I need to take the intro class?

Depending on your training and/or experience you may be able to progress to more advanced classes. Please contact the META team at [email protected] to discuss your options.

Do you offer payment plans?

Contact us at [email protected] to find out how we can get you training!

What’s your cancellation policy?

Mind’s Eye Tribe does not issue refunds for classes. We will happily reschedule a class for a later date as long as at least 48 hours notice is given.

Do I need prior acting experience to join?

Not at all! This class is perfect with no acting experience as well as the RADA trained actor. Learning to move and live in an imaginary world can be challenging for anyone new to this new and exciting technology, and we’re here to help you evolve, grow, and thrive!
