The “MoCap suits” (Velcro suits covered in markers) are strictly used for Performance capture shoots and are both time consuming and expensive to set up and use. This expense is always passed onto you, the student, and usually well before the student is ready. We instead focus on putting your time/money investment into focused training that will best forge the skills you need to ace the audition and nail your performance. The exception to this are the Final Performance Masterclasses made specifically to show your hard won skill. These are shot at the end of the academic year.
We at META try to create a safe environment where you are free to be your wild, incredible, crazy, but most importantly, vulnerable self. You must be free to fail at first, free to try new things, that often look or feel ridiculous. It is for this reason that we do not record in any of the level 1 or level 2 classes.
The time to record is when you have trained yourself to a point of competence and confidence at which point you may attend the Final Performance Masterclasses at the end of the academic year. It is in these classes footage for you to use in your reel will be recorded.
Videotaping is not allowed in the level 1 classes. In level 2 and 3 classes video recording can, with permission, be handled by META staff. Again, this to maintain integrity and focus on the work by keeping the experimental learning space free of distractions for all students.
Class locations are announced on an individual class basis. Most Southern California classes happen within the greater Los Angeles area.
META classes are taught mostly in Los Angeles, with special event classes in San Diego, San Francisco, Austin, TX, and Atlanta, GA.
“Be so good they can’t ignore you.” ~Steve Martin~
As with all acting classes, the intent of the training is to best prepare you for the work itself. That said, no class or teacher can guarantee you work. Nor should they. Train hard and your chances of working are greatly increased. Train the hardest, be the best. Make it so they can’t ignore you.
Not at all! This class is perfect with no acting experience as well as the RADA trained actor. Learning to move and live in an imaginary world can be challenging for anyone new to this new and exciting technology, and we’re here to help you evolve, grow, and thrive!
We take your comfort and safety very seriously at Mind’s Eye Tribe. We strive every day to build skill, craft and character in our students, both on and off the stage, and want to deliver the very best learning experience for all of our performers.
