At Mind’s Eye Tribe: Action Actor’s Academy, we teach performers the necessary skills to become well-rounded, working Action Actors. We specialize in Character Study, Action Fighting, Swords, Tactical (guns) and Creature Performance for Motion Capture Performance (MOCAP/PCAP), Film and Television. In addition to mastering new skill sets and sharpening their instincts, performers will learn essential rules, techniques and expectations to succeed on the motion capture stage and beyond. We produce versatile actors, action actors and stunt performers, who in turn bring their training and talent to the world.

Motion Capture Essentials is for the beginning or experienced actor, stunt, or physical performer wanting to understand and better prepare for work in Performance Capture.

Actors, Stunt-people and Specialty performers alike will benefit from the essential skills covered as they advance and evolve the craft so that you are fully prepared to understand everything involved with both Cinematic (cut scenes) and Navigation Performances (the full scope of movements needed to drive the characters in video games and film). Including the process, rules, and variables often associated with this type of performance capture.

Had an amazing time learning from TJ at his Action 101 and Beast 1 class! His attention to detail and wealth of knowledge is such a treat! I love that he teaches us how to be very specific with our choices as we create and explore the characters of a creature we’re working on. Anyone interested in pursuing or learning more about MoCap would greatly benefit from his workshops!

Even though I’m an established creature suit stunt performer of many years, there are ALWAYS things to be learned, and with the classes I’ve taken with The Mind’s Eye Tribe, the knowledge is endless! I’ve taken a lot of workshops with a lot of fantastic teachers, but I don’t know if I’ve ever enjoyed myself as much as when I was learning from TJ and Andi with Mind’s Eye Tribe. The workshop is full of great performance technique and tips, and also addresses the technical and business aspects. Not to mention the instructors are warm, welcoming and very fun. Can’t wait for the next one, would HIGHLY recommend this for any actor or stunt performer looking to get a solid foundation in this type of work.

TJ and Andi run an absolutely smashing class for anyone wanting to learn the ins and outs of performance capture. Would highly recommend Mind’s Eye Tribe if you’re interested in the world of mocap.

Had a blast at my first workshop with The Mind’s Eye Tribe this past weekend! I had minimal experience with performance capture before this, but TJ created an environment where everyone, from brand-new beginners to those with more experience felt equally comfortable experimenting, creating, and learning without judgment. His scope of knowledge and experience in the performance capture realm is incredible, and I learned so much about the process of working in performance capture – from both the creative side of things (your actual performance, developing and creating a character) and the professional side (how a day in the volume runs, what you can contribute and act to make the day run more smoothly, etc). I left feeling I had a good handle on the basics of performance capture, and excited to dive deeper and learn more!
